BreadIQ is a bread-baking calculator and bake-tracking app for iOS and Android, with a companion website and Chrome extension. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, which service providers process it for us, and how to delete it.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account Data: When you create an account or sign in, we collect and securely store your name and email address. Authentication is handled by Supabase.
  • Recipes and Baking Data:We save your bread formulas and the settings you used to build them (ingredients, baker's percentages, hydration, fat and yeast type, temperatures, fermentation and humidity settings, and timelines) and any ingredient price overrides you set, so you can use them across your devices and reload a saved recipe exactly as you built it. If you import a recipe from a web page, through the app or our Chrome extension, we fetch that page to extract the recipe, and a recipe sent from the extension is held temporarily until you open it in the app. If you import a recipe from a photo, the text is read on your device. The photo is not sent to BreadIQ or to any third-party service. When you export a recipe, the spreadsheet is created on your device and goes only where you choose to share it. We do not receive it.
  • Smart Thermometer & Fermentation Sensor Data:If you choose to connect a compatible smart thermometer (currently, a Combustion Inc. probe) to monitor a bake, BreadIQ records the dough core and ambient temperature readings taken during that bake, including readings after bulk fermentation through final proof and tempering, each marked with the stage of the bake. We also record the fermentation time our model predicted versus the actual time measured. If you turn on Humidity Adjustment, the relative humidity you enter is included with that bake's data. We do not measure humidity or location. The value is only what you type. This data is tied to your account and used to validate and improve the accuracy of our Predictive Fermentation Model. If you respond to the optional post-bake prompt, we also store your 1–5 rating and any comment you add. The connection is made directly between your device and the probe over Bluetooth; Combustion Inc. does not receive your baking data through this integration.
  • Siri and Voice (iPhone):You can ask Siri about your running bake. Apple's Siri receives your spoken request and BreadIQ's answer, which can include your bake name, step names, times and temperatures, under Apple's privacy policy. BreadIQ answers using bake information already on your phone. Our servers do not receive your spoken request.
  • Purchase Data: Subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play, which process your payment. RevenueCat receives the purchase details and your BreadIQ account ID so we can confirm your subscription tier. BreadIQ never receives or stores your card details or other financial credentials.
  • Crash and Diagnostic Data: Our iOS and Android apps use Google Firebase Crashlytics to report app crashes. When the app crashes, Crashlytics collects the crash log (stack trace), your device model, operating system version, app version, and a Firebase installation identifier, a random ID tied to that app installation, not to your name or email. We use this data only for crash diagnostics and app stability. We do not use Firebase Analytics or advertising features, and crash data is not used for marketing or ad targeting.
  • Push Notification Tokens: To update an active bake on your lock screen and in notifications (stage and timer updates), our apps send a push token to our servers: an Apple Push Notification service token on iOS, and a Google Firebase Cloud Messaging token on Android. These tokens are used only to deliver bake-tracking updates to your device. On Android, after you restart your phone, the app re-sets alerts for scheduled bakes already stored on the phone. This uses no personal data.
  • Bot Protection (hCaptcha): To protect sign-in, sign-up and password reset from automated abuse, our iOS and Android apps use hCaptcha, provided by Intuition Machines, Inc. When you sign in, create an account or request a password reset, hCaptcha may collect technical information about your device and interaction, such as IP address and device and browser characteristics, to tell whether the request comes from a person. This runs in the background and only shows a visible challenge when something looks unusual.
  • Email and Support: We send emails such as trial and subscription notices, and, when you ask for them, a recipe emailed to yourself or our newsletter. If you submit a bug report in the app, we receive your description and your account email so we can reply. If you use Send Feedback, the app opens an email draft in your own mail app, addressed to support@breadiq.io. The draft includes your app version, platform (iOS or Android), operating system version and subscription tier, along with whatever you write. We receive it only if you send it, together with your email address.
  • Ratings Prompt:The app may occasionally ask you to rate it using Apple's or Google's own rating prompt. Apple and Google provide those prompts. BreadIQ does not receive your answer or your review through them.
  • Website Analytics: Our website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page visits in aggregate. It does not use cookies or build a profile of you.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data only to run BreadIQ and support your use of it, specifically for:

  • Authenticating your account and protecting sign-in from automated abuse.
  • Syncing your recipes and settings across your devices, and reloading them exactly as you saved them.
  • Powering the calculation algorithms and the Predictive Fermentation Model™.
  • Comparing predicted fermentation timelines against real, measured thermal data from connected smart thermometers, together with the humidity you enter, so we can validate and improve the accuracy of that model over time.
  • Confirming your subscription tier (Free, Basic, Premium) via RevenueCat.
  • Delivering bake-tracking updates to your device during an active bake.
  • Answering your Siri questions about a running bake on iPhone.
  • Diagnosing crashes and keeping the apps stable.
  • Sending transactional emails, such as trial and subscription notices, and responding to support requests and feedback.
  • Optional Communications: If you subscribe, we occasionally send news about new features, software updates or fixes. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email.

3. Third-Party "Sous Chefs" (Data Processors)

We do not sell, rent or trade your data, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only with the service providers that run parts of BreadIQ for us:

  • Supabase: Hosts our database and manages account authentication.
  • Apple and Google: Process in-app subscription purchases through the App Store and Google Play. Apple also processes your Siri requests on iPhone, and Apple and Google provide the system rating prompts.
  • RevenueCat: Tracks in-app purchases and validates your subscription tier.
  • Google Firebase (Crashlytics & Cloud Messaging): Receives crash logs, device and operating system information, and installation identifiers from our mobile apps for crash diagnostics, and delivers push notifications on Android. SeeGoogle's Firebase privacy information.
  • hCaptcha (Intuition Machines, Inc.): Provides bot protection for sign-in, sign-up and password reset. See thehCaptcha privacy policy.
  • Resend: Delivers our emails and stores your email address as a contact so we can send you the emails described above.
  • Vercel: Hosts our API and website. As part of serving requests, Vercel processes technical data such as IP addresses in short-lived request logs, and provides our aggregate website analytics.

4. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your personal data and saved recipes only for as long as your account is active.

Your Right to Deletion

You can delete your account and its data at any time, in the app under Settings > Delete Account, or by emailingsupport@breadiq.io.

What Is Deleted

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your login and profile, your subscription record, your saved recipes (including the settings saved with them) and ingredient price overrides, your thermometer readings, the humidity values you entered, and feedback ratings, your push notification tokens and bake-tracking schedules, and any recipes waiting to be imported from the Chrome extension. We also remove your email address from our email provider's contact list and delete your customer record at RevenueCat. Recipes stored on your device are removed from the app.

Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your App Store or Google Play settings first, or you may continue to be billed.

Data Held by Others

  • Crash reports in Firebase Crashlytics are kept for up to 90 days and are not linked to your name or email.
  • hCaptcha discards the technical data it collects as soon as practical, and may keep limited, de-identified data for up to one year, as described in its privacy policy.
  • Support emails, feedback and bug reports you send us are kept in our support inbox only as long as needed to resolve the issue, then deleted. Account deletion does not reach them automatically; to have them deleted sooner, email support@breadiq.io.
  • Apple and Google keep records of your purchases, and Apple keeps records of your Siri requests, under their own privacy policies.
  • Vercel's request logs and Resend's records of emails already sent expire under those providers' own retention schedules.
  • Deleted data may remain in our routine database backups until those backups are overwritten on their regular schedule.

5. Children's Privacy

BreadIQ is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us atsupport@breadiq.io and we will delete it.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as BreadIQ changes. When we do, we will update the version and effective date above, and for significant changes we will email the address on your account and may also notify you in the app.
